Dislocation

Dislocation features landscapes that lack geographic and temporal specificity.  Where are these places? Are these landscapes of the past, the future, or do they foreshadow a future past? One photograph, for instance, depicts a jetliner behind a stand of trees. It is not clear whether the jetliner is about to crash, or crashed years ago and sits in the landscape as a leftover relic of a previous era. In another image, a transport trailer is parked in a bucolic landscape. On closer inspection, the scenery surrounding the trailer looks eerily like the milk advertisement on its side. The work thus situates itself outside of time and place, generating a sense of déjà vu, doubt, and anxiety.
